“Zion City” is a musical portrait of a New Orleans neighborhood at a tipping point in its history. Through oral story-telling & archival material, the documentary will explore the Zion City that once stood tall: a place filled with churches and candy shops and corner stores, filled with children and families and music. It is a document about loss, memory, spirituality, gospel music, and the bounds of community. It will follow in real-time the developments on the ground as the residents work and fight to realize the neighborhood they know is below the surface but very much alive in their memories.//MD
